Hey WTF! There's no objectivity here. These people go straight down the
Line. It's like there's a fucking script for them. Can you think of just
ONE issue that someone like "Bob" would favor which is also the same
position taken by someone of common sense on the Right? No, hell no.
Like I said. They follow the fucking Line right down to a tee. And if
sometime in the near future the "opinion molders" on the Left (or in the
government) all of a sudden reverse their position on something like Global
Warming, I guarantee you it won't take morons like Bob very long to fall
RIGHT IN LOCKFUCKINGSTEP.
They're sheep. That's why they're on the Left. duh!
Nevermind getting alarmed about global warming. The only thing to be
alarmed about, is that there are WAY too many people like Bob, who would
just as soon surrender our nation and committ national suicide. THAT, is
something to be alarmed about. I wouldn't shed a tear if they themselves
get swept into tyranny. But dammit I gotta live here too. These fucking
people are gonna cost us our way of life, our standard of living, our
freedom, our nation. Oh, and they want to kill God too.
And when the *** hits the fan, I ain't goin out alone.

So, Pickle, you posted three links. Two of them are from very suspect
sources, and the other one agrees with me. I rest my case, and now I
really am going to get back to work.
You really have to keep working, Bob, because you are reading it all too
quickly. There is no doubt that there is an observed increase in the
carbon
dioxide concentration after the industrial revolution occurred but it
does
not appear to be significant in relation to or correlated with the
average
increases in temperature. At least there is no really good data to
support
the sort of hysteria that some folks want to put into the mix. So,
don't
rest your case until you explain what you mean by your case. The one
source
that you want to use does NOT support what you are saying (or at least
implying) ... you are the one that throws in the world is coming to an
end
sort of picture.
I read the entire article, Pickle. Here is another exerpt:
" Is sea level rising?
Global mean sea level has been rising at an average rate of 1 to 2
mm/year over the past 100 years, which is significantly larger than the
rate averaged over the last several thousand years. Projected increase
from 1990-2100 is anywhere from 0.09-0.88 meters, depending on which
greenhouse gas scenario is used and many physical uncertainties in
contributions to sea-level rise from a variety of frozen and unfrozen
water sources."
Tell me, Pickle - if you don't find it alarming that sea levels are
expected to rise one to three feet by the end of the century, what
would you find alarming? The worst-case scenario of global warming are
disastrous. Shouldn't we the human race take precautions and try to
minimize the amount of climate change, just in case the worst-case
scenarios might be close to reality? This is why people are reacting
with "hysteria" - don't you get it? If the most extreme predictions of
climate modeling are correct, we are in a big hole and digging it
deeper every day. Do you remember what the First Rule of Holes is,
Pickle? When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!
By golly, I was around for the last hysterical prediction of the new ice
age. This impending doom for a geologically timed event is amazing. What
about when California slips off into the ocean? There is no doubt that
global warming appears to be an event to watch ... whether we can do
anything within reason about it is another question. If I thought that
the oceans would rise three feet by the end of the century and we could do
something about it, I would be interested. Someone better than the folks
you have put out will have to convince me.
So, will it be an asteroid that hits us and makes all of this irrelevant?
There are folks that believe we should put a lot more money into making
sure that is not the "next big event" ... the last too. At least if the
seas rise, we can deal with that. I am still trying to recover from
Katrina. Do you think they will ever get Houston to evacuate again? Do
you think that New Orleans will evacuate the next time they are ordered to
do so? (Maybe once.) But after that, never again.
No, I do not mind a little hyperbole every now and then. After all, what
good is the internet if we cannot follow the next big thing minute to
minute. Cold fusion will solve all these problems and then the seas won't
rise. Just you wait and see.
