I started beta testing pkr this week, just wanted to give my first impressions. Graphics are outstanding, looks and feels real. BUT its very gimmicky. You.
have a ton of emotions, sayings, chip tricks, etc...that can be done, but once
you do them a few times to just see what they do, it seems pretty pointless
after that. Not really sure the point of having my computer player shuffle
chips. I guess the saying are supposed to throw people off, like if you flop
the nuts you can choose for your player to say "OH MY GOD" or "BOOOO", among
other things. Just not sure I see the point to all of that except for a novelty
that will wear off fast.
All the graphics, animation, etc...make the game slow to load, slower to play,
and takes up a ton of space. Its almost 500MB total for the program, and takes
a minute or so to load up each time.
All in all, its pretty fun to play, but when i play poker online, I want to just
play poker. I dont need all the extra graphics, voices, animations to slow it
down. I normally play with the sound off anyway. If I want to do chip tricks
and read people, I will do it in a live game, not on a computer.
Overall, it is pretty good though and great to watch, but i think the gimmicks
will get old pretty quickly.
