Actually the rakeshare method you described is almost univerally used.

I think you are wrong here Edward. I have been doing affiliate
marketing since 2002 and that has been the standard for rake
calculation with a majority of the sites I have dealt with. What sites
did you deal with that told you this was not a industry norm?
I've actually never done any affilate work as far as making money by
earning from other players that I recommend to sites. I prefer to make
money playing myself, although I have nothing against others that do. I
base my opinion on what little experience I have earning rakeback. I
played at Doyle's room through a skin that was offering 40% rakeback on
what I contributed and based on the figures I was paid I was convinced
that they were computing the amount based on my own contribution and
not 10% of the amount collected at the tables I played on. I've
reviewed other offers that gave you a choice of % of rackback or large
deposit bonuses and those too seemed to be calculted on the players
contribution by the wording in the offers.
I'm no expert on rakeback deals and I can't say how ALL sites handle
this, but I'm a big believer in Truth In Advertising. When you read
WSEX home page you're lead to believe that you will get 100% of your
rake returned to you. When you question the calculating technique used
directly by email, you're told that each player gets back the amount
they contribute. This is not happening so I tend to begin doubting the
entire company as promoting in a fraudulent manner. But that's just me.
As you can see from some replies above, most people tend to accept
anything as being better than nothing, so they say it doesn't matter.
We all know we need these fish in the game, so why ague with them?
Or do you just have a hardon for Gary?
I don't have a hardon for Gary, other than the fact that he tends to
use insults and name calling towards anyone that has an opinion that
differs from his own. He also seems to have that "I wrote a book, so I
know more than you" attitude.
I admit I have read some insightful and informative things written by
Gary, and it's obvious that he knows a bit about poker, but when he
begins using the above mentioned techniques when I don't quite agree
with his thinking, I have a hard time maintaining the respect for him
that he may have gained from the good that he does add. But that's just
the internet. People find it easy to insult others with inuedos and
name calling when in the confort of a locked house behind a keyboard.
I'm sure he's more respectful of others when in a face to face
situation, as we all are.
