Shiver - What is the difference between what you are proposing and 2+2?

Well Susan off the top of my head...2+2 is a browser based forum set up
by one person ( I presume ).

It's their own personal little website. A forum where they are the top
banana.... and the only banana. No checks and balances.

A moderated newsgroup would be set up by the majority with a fairly
clear cut set of posting guideline agreed to and followed by it's
users.

No one person owns it, no one person controls it, and there would be a
way to address complaints that a moderator was running roughshod over
the group.

Many people don't like the format of web based forums compared to how a
newsgroup looks like, feels, and functions.

I'm one of those..... I like newsgroups folks.

I personally don't like moderated newsgroups, but with the amount of
crap posted here every day, I'm willing to compromise and say hey, I'd
vote to go moderated, and I'd join in a heatbeat.

With up to a thousand posts a day, of which many, many hundreds are
pure crap, I would agree with many of you that it is time for the
majority to look at viable alternatives.

Since many don't want a forum, then a moderated group is the only
alternative to consider.

A moderated group would look, feel, and function exactly as this one
does but without the crap that the majority hate.

You as a female would never have to worry about someone putting you
down because of your tits, sexuality, color of skin, religion,
politics,
etc., etc., etc.

You could make the same poker comments as you do now and respond to
comments and participate in this group... just like you do know.

But you wouldn't be able to denigrate someone or make OT comments.

You wouldn't be able to promote you personal vanity site whether it was
poker related or not. That would include blogs, and referall sites, or
any other type of commercial venture that you may be involved in.

Initially everyone's postings would automatically go through.

Those that abused the rules would go from the "A" list to the "B" list
and their posts would first be read by a moderator, offending parts
deleted, warning given, and if they didn't change their ways
they would be voted off the island.

There would be checks and balances so no moderator could turn this
group into their personal little fiefdom.

Follow simple rules and your in like Flint.

Be an *** and your time in the moderated group will be very short.

A few bad apples might get through from time to time but once found,
they will be gone.
