Re: OT-Bush Threatens Veto of Spending Bills, Wants more tax cuts for the rich!

Short term my ass. Here we go with the "spending our way into prosperity"
bull*** again. Restraining government and allowing the private sector to
PRODUCE, that is the way to promote economic growth. By restraining
government. Period!

When the government borrows and spends a few trillion it has
a short term positive effect on economic growth. You don't
think anything is produced with that few extra trillion?

That misses the point. SOMETHING may be produced, but
if it's not in response to honest demand - as the market
would function - it's bogus, wasteful. In the Soviet Union,
they gave everyone a shovel, and told them to dig a hole.
Then they crowed about 100% EMPLOYMENT, the
victory of socialism!

Think the same doesn't happen here? We have $300
billion poured down war industry holes every year. Those
people are counted as 'employed', the economists count
it as a $300 billion contribution to the GDP, etc. It's
the SAME as my SovUnion example.

The 'economic activity indicators' are nonsense, propaganda.
If the fruit of your labor is confiscated, and spent where you
wouldn't, you are POORER. That is 'bad for the economy'.
Keep in mind - which no one does, everyone is in denial
about it, especially our so-called 'leaders' - every dollar
spent by any gov't agency was TAKEN from someone.

Calling the public ignorant on economics, is a wild
understatement, as evidenced by economics threads
on any internet board. And it's not just Joe Sixpack,
but also the talking heads on teevee...
