Re: Republican fascists want to ban poker, liberal opposes the ban

Well stated, CAH. Even socialism (the international variety) is different
than National Socialism. But, fascism is indeed a far-right movement
whereas communism is far-left -- two opposite ends of the spectrum.

Currently, we are moving closer (if not already) to a National Socialist
type of government under the GOP, minus the ethnic nationalism reminiscent
of the 1940's variety. Personally, I see very little difference in the two
parties now, and whatever is going on in Washington, D.C. is nothing close
to what was originally intended in the Constitution or by the Framers.

Here?s an interesting statement by Mussolini, and if anyone knew fascism
it was him:

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the
merger of state and corporate power." - Benito Mussolini.

Yep, that sounds like America to me?

seriously? I thought the Democrats were associated with the
Communists, the SWORN ENEMIES of the Fascists.

Fascism:
"A philosophy or system of government that is marked by stringent
social and economic control, a strong, centralized government usually
headed by a dictator, and often a policy of belligerent nationalism."
(From The American Heritage Dictionary)

Republicans are pushing for strong social (and atm to an extent
economic) control, the Republicans want the strong, centralized
government whose leader answers to no one (domestic spying anyone?),
the Republicans engage in beligerant natonalism (why else would Bush
would call anyone who opposes the Iraq War UN-AMERICAN?).

Fascism is a far right wing philosophy, and frankly, a far cry from the
spectrum of most any politician or pundit in the United States. (save
for perhaps Pat Robertson) Republicans hate Fascism about as much as
Democrats hate Communism.
