theSociety as a whole then suffers because of all of
the wealth absorbed into the government agencies which produce nothing for
society in return.
This is a common misconception in basic macroeconomics. Money paid to the
goverment isn't "absorbed" - it's respent by the government, which in turn
drives the economy. Government spending is one of the largest motors driving
economy.
you and wilhelm are fucking killing me; you talk out both sides of your
mouths. department of education spending has increased 7%+ per annum for
several decades with no improvement in test scores - ie the money's been
pissed away. did you hear that a privately funded shuttle left the
earth's atmosphere, and it only cost twenty to thirty million dollars to
develop? last i checked nasa shed 15 tiles in their last effort and won't
be making another attempt for a year at least. oh yeah, and they recently
lost a billion dollar satellite on launch. money well spent? did you
hear that the pentagon, department of defense, and the department of
homeland security will take home billions more under bush's new budget?
how'd those agencies perform in their intelligence gathering duties, their
analysis of post-war iraq, and their scuttling of the 9/11 attacks? you
want MORE? in our hometown of chicago, municipal landscapers get paid
four times the going market rate to plant flowers. it's all in the name
of a "living wage". oh yeah, but something north of 60% of these workers
are illegal fucking immigrants. guess where those excess wages go: yep,
relatives in mexico. money well spent? how about the budget of the FDA -
i heard merck was getting sued about something or another - how about the
budget of the DEA - that war on drugs sure is going well - how on earth
you can believe in the effectiveness of benevolent government an its
spending while ALL evidence suggests the contrary is totally beyond me.
should we call it spectacularly blind faith? speaking of blind faith, if
i told you that the pals of these government bureaucrats were all broke,
would you believe me? how'd fema do during and after katrina?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-02-13-katrina-report_x.htm
i heard the government rented entire luxury cruise ships to house
refugees, paid full fare, but was only able to half fill the ships. money
well spent? a little birdie told me that the government issued credit
cards with $250,000 credit lines to people there to rebuild and help. but
after incredible abuses and lack of sufficient oversight, they stopped the
program. a reasonable way to approach the problem? money well spent?
did you know that your senators and reps got a raise last year? ramping
up debt, increasing spending, accomplishing NOTHING - money well spent?
ever heard of jack abramoff? you think only the republicans are in on
this dirt? i'm guessing that a bunch of democrats would have taken up
their soapboxes had they not been in on the take. schumer would've bought
hours and hours of camera time to preach his selfrighteous divorce from
the republican way of life - was that guy born in a press
conference?.......wait, i've found a little proof:

need i continue? are you seriously dumb enough to think this is a
conservative problem, a republican problem, a fucking bush problem? this
***'s been going on for the better part of forty years, that the country
still holds believers is totally astounding to me. cr, are you familiar
with rip van winkle? WAKE UP!
