Re: OT - Computer access

I have had plenty of problems and am the IT guy at my work by default. I
am no pro, but have had some success. Leo Laporte is the Tech Guy, he is
awesome and knows his stuff.

Here is a link on spyware
http://www.leoville.tv/radio/Main/RemovingSpyware?from=Main.Anti-Spyware.
I run spybot, adaware and Microsoft Antispyware, they are all great
programs. None of them catch everything though, that is why I have all
three.

Here is a link about viruses http://www.leoville.tv/radio/Main/Anti-Virus.

AVG is a free virus program for you computer and there also some free
online scans.

Here is link to Microsoft's online scan, I have run it at home and work,
it seems to be pretty good
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/update/windows_live_safety_center.mspx.

PcPitstop is an online scan that tells you how your computer is doing, it
is not just for the malicious stuff. I would recommend that you run it and
then explore all of the things that it is telling you, you will learn a
great deal. http://www.pcpitstop.com/

***Disclosure***
You have to be careful running / removing anything from your computer.
These malicious programs purposefully put things on your computer, that if
you remove them can have detrimental effects. You should create a restore
point prior to running the scans, that way you can always go back to the
beginning and start over. Be especially wary of messing with your
registry. If you are not comfortable doing it, don't. Find someone who is.
