i thought it was because i keep taking my money off poker sites to pay
bills. i also wouldn't call it begging, in order to beg i believe one
must appeal to another's emotions. i just say 'i feel like playing, send
me $10 so i can play.' that might be begging, i don't know. if it is,
then i'm proud of myself because most people would just beg for spare
change and i'm getting hamiltons.
i'm really not sure which aspect you're so timid about...pf i'd reraise
because his raise seems odd and i'd rather put the onus on him to catch a
flop he feels good about (which'll happen about 2/5 times i'd wager) than
on myself (which will happen...whatever the combined odds of flopping 2
pair or better, a flush or straight draw are.) generally speaking, i
don't like giving away the lead if i suspect the person trying to take it
doesn't deserve it and i don't like hoping i catch flops. i have really
bad luck catching flops and all things considered w/the advantage of
position, i'd like to not put myself in that position. if i caught flops
more often, i could see just calling...but i don't so i have to look for
other ways of winning.
pf, i presume you're getting your slant based on hoh2....taking the free
card is ok (assuming you even get it...my guess is the guy behind you's
range has a ton of hands that include a T and even if not he might take a
stab at it which'll lead to something i don't like which is playing a
flush draw w/no overs oop), but if my read of the sb is that he's weak i
like to raise here to push out the potential hand of the guy behind me (i
don't think he can call here with the potential of me actually having a
hand and/or a reraise from the sb) and perhaps give myself back some of my
pair outs. the bb may be a problem since if the sb does not raise the bb
can now safely raise it up w/as little as top pair or just call, but
either way i'd at least know where i stood with him. most likely bb
folds, i think he leads w/a pair and 2 pair is just very unlikely. a set
is possible, but better knowing that now than when you turn the deuce of
spades.
overall, i think my read of the blinds as not having much is accurate and
i really just need to push out the guy behind me so i can bet the turn. i
think raising accomplishes that. checking would seem to allow things i
don't like to happen unless i hit a spade on the turn, which *i* won't
especially not on full tilt.
