I can see where you might not want to take the time to educate DP, but
I would ask you to re-consider.

All kinds of people here have offered to educate me on the intricacies
of economic theory, but alas, I have been disappointed time and time
again.

Would you consider giving me the benefit of your knowledge of
economics?

Here is one site I found that tries to explain the current runup of
crude oil prices.

http://www.forbes.com/markets/feeds/afx/2005/08/09/afx2176025.html

They do note that adjusted for inflation, the price is still not as
high as its peak in 1979.

Oil prices are around 40 pct higher than a year ago. However adjusted
for inflation, they remain far below levels reached in the wake of the
1979 Iranian revolution when prices surged to upwards of 80 usd a
barrel in today's money.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you think we will see a repeat of the 1979 situation?

You ask why Conservatives didn't run a candidate against an incumbent
President?

Surely you must be jesting?

If not, I have to wonder if your understanding of economics could be
any better than your understanding of politics.
