Re: (UK) Second Most Popular Combo is.... (very OT)

Wanna hear something awesome? Concierto Madrigal, with Pepe and Angel Romero, recorded with the orchestra of Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. I think there are some web sites where you can hear parts of it. There are other recordings with different artists, but they can't "really" do it. The piece was written specifically for the Romeros. It's sorta weird, but it has some truly phenomenal Guitar pickin'.

Maybe you have that recording...Concierto Andaluz is on the same CD that I have.

I bought a Rodrigo/Romero cassette boxed set which also included "Orange Juice", Andaluz and the Fantasia. It's probably degraded by now and I don't have anything functional to play it on any more.

I currently have "Orange Juice" and Andaluz on a CD but not by the Romeros and IMO a substantially weaker interpretation - the fault of an impulse buy during a sale.

I have to admit I preferred all of "Orange Juice", Andaluz and Fantasia (great on a flute too IMO) to Madrigal. But then if everyone had the same preferences either I would be interested in blonde bimbos rather than Christina Ricci, or my chances of multiple gene-merges with her would be considerably reduced from my current estimate which is currently and hope-inducingly on a par with scooping the UK Lotto jackpot 5 times in succession.
