Some people are completely Lost when it comes to choosing
decent combos.
On the other hand, some of us know that piano, standup bass,
tenor sax and a couple of accordions make a great combo.
(I'm kidding about the accordions, but if the only other
choices bagpipes or something electric...)
I once caught a show on TV where a band consisting solely of
accordion players played a couple of numbers. The effect was
very powerful, with a pseudo-percussive effect (my words). I
like Rodrigo's Concierto Andaluz for the same reason - that
has four guitar 'soloists'.
Wanna hear something awesome? Concierto Madrigal, with Pepe and
Angel Romero, recorded with the orchestra of Academy of St.
Martin-in-the-Fields. I think there are some web sites where you
can hear parts of it. There are other recordings with different
artists, but they can't "really" do it. The piece was written
specifically for the Romeros. It's sorta weird, but it has some
truly phenomenal Guitar pickin'.
Maybe you have that recording...Concierto Andaluz is on the same
CD that I have.
