Quite frankly the reason I tried the water it was because we
remembered the issues we had last time we tried to use the
thing. It sucked soup, stew, and anything else out of the bag
because the vacuum runs for nearly 30 seconds. It's crazy. I
think I can just eliminate the sucking by keeping the edge of
the bag away from the vacuum area however.. I will try it and
get back with you.
I degraded my first foodsaver by not freezing liquids before sealing
the bag. It still worked, but it was not as good as when new. That
said, it still worked for 8 more years. The new foodsaver still
requires you to solidify liquids before vacuum sealing, but as nb
said, the tray is for the little bit of moisture that gets sucked out
before it seals. And yes, the new foodsaver has a setting to seal
without vacuuming if you want to. That's how you make bags out of the
roll of bag material.
Thank you, I will look into the new Foodsaver brand..
