My ancient Regal bread machine started making strange moises while
kneading yesterday. I may have to replace it soon. Any suggestions?
If no one convinces me otherwise, I'll likely get another Regal
(assuming they are still being made, haven't checked). I had good
luck with the one I have.
Zojirushi. The Japanese make insanely good small kitchen electrics.
Zojirushi also has facilities in Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and
Shanghai.
They have a large production plant in Qing Yuan, China so there's
every possibility their bread machine is also made in China like
pretty well every other bread machine in the world.
That said, if I added up the cost of all the bread machines I've
owned, it would surely total far more than the price of the Zoji so
when the current Cuisinart dies I'll probably spring for a Zoji.
My biggest complaint with bread machines is when you need a part, no
matter how small, you find that model discontinued and no parts are
available.
Of all the bread machine I've owned, I'd have to vote the Welbilt
Model ABM2H60 as the worst piece of junk. Donated it to the thrift
shop within 2 weeks. I hope the new owner had better luck.
Ross.
I have great results with the: Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker.
Except for 100% whole wheat bread. I have good results by adding just
one cup of white bread flour. My first panasonic lasted 12 years. My
second one still running after 4 years. I make about one loaf per week.
Like most small appliances - Made in China.
However, if you want really great breads, use a really good stand mixer.
If you want really fantastic bread - try hand kneading and use a wood
cook stove :) The latter - The bread may not taste better, but you will
appreciate it better.
