My witty, "Uh..." wasn't very convincing or thorough.

So what, beyond franks or sausages would be a good accompaniment with bake
beans?

These days when I eat Baked Beans that's the meal. Maybe a glass of
milk.

I do make "Calico Beans" but the recipe makes too much for one.
Unless you eat it for every meal for a week; which I do not recommend
to "people who like people".

Calico Beans is made with a variety of "doctored" canned beans
[black, great northern, kidney, butter. lima, navy, pinto, Bush's
Baked etc] Plus lots of diced onion, maybe a can of chopped green
chilis and every kind of pork meat you've got [bacon, leftover ham,
bulk pork breakfast sausage, sliced polish sausage, andouille, chorizo
etc] plus some ground beef .

Brown/saute all the meats remove from skillet. Saute onions in meat
fat. Drain (I drain all the meats and the onions on paper towels.

Drain & rinse the canned beans (except baked). Mix brown sugar,
catsup, yellow mustard, vinegar, molasses, Tabasco, to taste. Add one
clove of crushed garlic and pour over beans. Add meats and onion. Mix
well.

Pour into Crock Pot or Dutch Oven. Crock Pot on low for a few of
hours or in a 325 oven for an hour or more uncovered. NOTE: It needs
to be more liquid if you do it in the oven, less if you use the Crock
Pot. Taste it - if it tastes "done" it is. Add salt if you think it
needs it.

Good served with Corn Bread or Muffins.
