If that meant missing out on the minority of genuine posters who don't
have the good sense NOT to use google groups, then Blinky figured it
was no big loss. But don't tell Blake, because he'll think it's racial
discrimination.

BTW - I tried doing the same using NewsProxy and it was wonderful for
the first week or two. But, unlike Blinky, I found that I was missing
out on more genuine posts than I wanted, so I now have NP configured
to mark everything from google groups as "Suspected Spam" so it's easy
to spot and delete when necessary.

I think people who are so inconvenienced by spam from google groups
need a news provider that has better initial filtering capabilities
and then they need to learn how to use a filter. I use APN (which is
apparently an Easy News reseller and easy news doesn't have a great
reputation). I see some occasional spam, but I've set my filters in a
way that spam sightings are pretty rare.

You'll notice that I also use APN (now tied up with Easynews) and
Agent as my newsreader. I can set most filters in Agent itself. But I
use NewsProxy to filter google group posts.

But it's not the spam that bothers me as much as the trolls - like the
one/ones obsessed with Peter Lucas. He/she/it/them use google groups
and it's rare that google follow through on complaints - which is what
mindless trolls like that count on.
