Filtering certain domains can eliminate a lot of crap. A few months ago the group was besieged with a huge amount of spam, most of which was coming from gmail. Filtering everything from gmail took care of that.Suit yourself, but it's not fair to presume that everyone who posts via a gmail account is a spammer or a troll. Believe it or not, some of us are actually legitimate posters.
Quoting so Dave and others see your response.
I hear ya. I've had to post through Google on and off while trying to
get Agent to work right, and it feels bad, having your posts ignored.

On the other hand, it's not that hard to spot the troublemakers andExactly; I use Thunderbird as my newsreader and it doesn't do killfiling per se, but it's easy to mark posts as read. For the most part, though, I just don't bother opening some posts, but I do understand that some folks don't even want to know that there are such posts.
spammers, and either filter them or delete their posts, unread.
I think that the people who kill the entire domain are missing out.I'd munge my address but Motzarella doesn't allow it (at least they didn't when I signed up), which is why I got a gmail address for Usenet in the first place. As far as I've seen, all of the free email clients end up being used by spammers sooner or later so choosing another isn't a solution, and my ISP offers only a limited number of free addresses and I don't want to use any of them as a throwaway. At this point, I'm at a loss to figure out a way around all of this, so I guess I'll just have to live with being one of the ghosties hovering around the fringes of the group ;D
