You're damn right r.f.c could be considered a 'hostile environment' in
fact, is *is* a hostile environment to any newbie - as are many other
ng's - ozdebate was sure hostile to you, wasn't it? (still is judging
by some of the crossposted crap I've had to filter out lately).

Therefore, lurking in a group (any group) for a while is the thing to
do. You're a soldier, aren't you? Didn't they teach you to 'know your
enemy' before going on a 'raid'? How do you think I realized that
commercial advertising/spamming was about as popular as a pork chop in
a synagogue here; that Barb hates 'dirt-chunks' and Nancy used to have
(maybe still has? <g>) a 'thing' about the Mounties, or that you're a
crazy person that likes to jump out of planes? Not to mention how Greg
hated somebody called Martha Hughes and our ex-friend Dr Chump (sic)
used to stalk Bob P. here until we all kf'd him/her/it... Need I go on?

Wanna plug your website, by all means put the link in your sig, but
don't make it too obvious that that is all you're really here for...

As for posting links to food pics - I really don't remember too many
people objecting to that...

Let me reiterate: I have nothing against 'genuine newbies' in fact,
compared to you and many others here, I am still one myself. It's just
the obvious spammers trying to pass themselves off as 'genuine newbies'
that get on my last nerve (and on quite few other rfc-er's last nerve's
too, judging by some of the other responses in this thread). There have
been plenty of newbies lately that have had many "Welcome to the group"
responses from lots of folks here, but they just disappear anyway (or
use another sock, who knows?)

IOW, you wanna subscribe and post here you need the hide of a rhino.
People with thin skins don't last more than one or two posts. Their
loss.
