Apparently, the food origins law will go into effect today. It's not
perfect and even a bit self contradictory but it's a start. The
producers' organizations have produced the usual knee-jerk statements;
"It will raise prices".
It doesn't much matter where most foods originate... there's exactly
as much chance unwholesome practices were employed growing tomatoes in
Noo Joisey as Mexico. Produce from Peru is just as wholesome as the
same produce from California. The only interest of merit I can think
of is political, like I wanna know my pistachios, dates, and figs come
from California and not from Iran. And there is so much one can't
posibly know with accuracy/consistancy... like all the bible thumping
rednecks claim they are only gonna drive pick ups built in the US, but
none give a roadkill's b-hind that they fill em with middle east
fuel... same as how you can't know where that canned tuna was caught,
you can only know where it was packed. Ther easre jsut too many foods
tasht can't be accurately tracked, it's nigh impossible to discern
which crops originated in the US or Canada... most times at the
processor grain becomes a blend... Canadian whisky could just as
easily be distilled and bottled in the US as bourbon in Canada
