And with the exception of hollow-handled pieces, I've been putting my sterling in there as well (although separated from the stainless).

Maybe a factor is that I don't use the heated drying cycle, I dunno.

I don't put good crystal into the dishwasher. Even if a piece is in there all by itself, the dishwasher will jostle it as it cleans, and I'm not willing to risk its breaking. It's not THAT much trouble to wash crystal by hand; it's even a bit enjoyable drying and polishing the stuff!
