Yes.

This just kills me. I have no children and my parents are dead. Why
on earth does anyone think they have to be able to reach me at any
moment they choose? We have weird hours for a number of reasons,
something these old "up with the chickens" types really frown upon.
But we need our sleep, so you bet the phones are off when we're
sleeping. My MIL, (for whom one cannot do enough, and I mean "one"
can try "one's" GUTS out for years) once complained to my husband
when she called and the phone was busy, FFS. She said, "what if I was
having an emergency?" My husband, who has the equivalent of two full
time jobs, replied: "if you have an emergency, dial 911."

My mother will call and say I called, you didn't answer. Well, mom,
I went out for a while. I often go out even twice a day! She seems
to take it personally, like I knew she was going to call and just didn't
pick up the phone.

I don't know why, it's just funny.

back when i was on dial-up, it was almost impossible to reach me.
sometimes i miss that.
