You're right, I don't save cookies so why should I cache anything? It
was only set for 50mb, but I reset it at 00.

And use the freeware "Baku" to clean out your temp and
temporary internet files folder, logs, caches, etc. Use lots of care
with Baku. It does some very deep housekeeping.

Do you use it for registry cleaning too? I've been looking for a
decent, free, reg cleaner.

sf,

Yes it does a fine job of examining and cleaning the registry. It will
always present you with a list of what it found and you select which
items you want fixed. This kind of behavior is also used in the Search
for Unneeded Files and the Search for Applications MRU Lists modules.

I did the search for unneeded files and it came up with (among other
things) a boatload of "thumbs.db". I have no idea what those are...
did a search for thumbs.db and came up blank. Did a search for *.db
still nothing. My rule of thumb is "If you don't know what it is,
don't mess with it." So, I Googled it. Apparently Thumbs.db is a
hidden file used by Microsoft Windows operating system that stores a
cache for Windows Explorer's thumbnail view (which I rarely use and
don't know how to access directly anyway). Why would a picture stored
on your own computer need to be cached?

sf,

If you are viewing a Windows explorer window in "Thumbnail" view it tries
to give files and folders previews, created as your thumb.db files. My
private document folder has folders for recipes, food pix, user manuals,
vacation photos, etc., and explorer will try and put a few images of 4
enclosed file images on the folder itself. So for example my food pix
folder shows 4 of my food pictures on it. Even the recipe folder represents
recipes if they are in a graphic format it can use.

If you don't view by "Thumbnails" you can delete them all. Next time you
visit that folder, it'll simply generate new thumbnails again.

Baku is a real under-the-hood power-user program. It's not a leave your
car at the mechanic and come back later program.

As are most registry cleaners. I ended up deleting something that
made Windows put a Microsoft.net fixer on my desktop. At least Skype
is completely gone now.

I'm pleased that you gave it a try. It's an excellent piece of software and
as FREEWARE no less.

There's a tiny "?" icon far right on the menubar in Baku that drops down a
menu to check for updates. Do so every time you use Baku (daily for me,
anyway).

Best,

Andy
