Most cars these days have a safety latch on the inside of the trunk
so you can't be locked in. Doesn't help if you can't reach it or if

older model.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping,
eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their cheque book, or
making a list, etc

We do?! That's funny, the first thing I do when I get in my car is
lock the
door, start the engine, put on my seat belt and drive off. I've
never sat in my car doing the things described above.

5 . A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or
parking garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger
side floor , and in the back seat.

True.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the
passenger door.

I never purposely park next to a van (or a big truck). This is
definitely something to be cautious about. Never fails I'll come
out of a store and find myself hemmed in by one or the other, though.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and
the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest
your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get
a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

A good tip. A guard or policeman may not be around but you may want
to ask
a store employee (like the "bag boy" at the grocery store) to walk
out with
you. There's safety in numbers.

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP...It may
get you raped, or killed.

Most people here will tell you, I'm not all that sympathetic LOL

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man,
who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

True. Most of his victims were college girls, often around college
campuses. It IS important to tell young, impressionable women to
exercise a
lot of caution. Travel in packs (so to speak) when possible.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into
his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next
victim.

I'll hit him with my cane ;)

9. Another Safety Point:

Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her
porch the night before last, and she called the police because it
was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her
...'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'

Not true. MG posted the link to snopes dispelling this myth.

So, if one part, about the baby crying is untrue, Jill, Does it make
the rest of the things to be treated the same way?, as bad advice?

It sounds pretty good advice to me, the rest of it then, don't you
think so?.....

I am not 'trying' to score points by posting this, that a friend sent
me... SO, one part is not true, so what?, Ignore the rest?..By all
means do, at your own peril then!

Hi, Jill...You're right...sorry..It was nearing midnight here in Oz when I wrote that last night...I admit, I didn't see the notes in between mine, with your comments, Jill...I am not as observant at that time of night and am not used to reading comments placed in a message like that, even though some others do in a couple of senior groups I am in....I will have to be more observant :-)

I haven't yet read the other comments as yet, as I have to go off and take my little granddaughter to Kindergarten school...Will read the others when I return later this morning..... Hope no one else have jumped on me when I look at them later this morning.....<G>
