How often is the average household going to buy 20-50 lbs of rice
anyway?

Apparently cschenk's household consumes 10 lbs. every two weeks. Me,
I'm not gonna worry about it. I can still have my red beans & rice
or jambalaya. No need to buy 10+ pounds of rice.

A 2kg (about 4.5lbs) pack of basmati rice lasts me about 5-6 weeks; we
have it about once a week for various dishes and there are 3 adults
and one kidlette in the family... I also have a 2kg pack of
'parboiled' white rice that I use for making the odd dish of 'dirty
rice' that I've had for months. But I guess some people eat more rice
than we do. But... we can easily go through 3-4kg's of spuds in a
week... I love spuds fried, baked, roasted, boiled - you name it.

I'm a potato gal, for sure! I'll eat spuds any which way. Rice, I can take
it or leave it.
