That's $7/day per... he probably eats up three of your seven
dollars... a whole lot more believeable than $1.66/day per... even $4/
day is very believeable... but $1.66/day is a LIAR.

Actually I can eat quite well on $7 a day but I know I'd get bored. I
eat on like $15/day. some days less, some days more, $15 is an
average... I typically consume $3/day just in fresh fruit and salad
veggies. And I eat snack foods too, some healthful like nuts, dried
fruit, expensive cheese, etc., and some not so healthful, like cookies/
cake, ice cream, soda, candy, even alcohol, my grapefruit juice and
Crystal Palace bill is more than $1.66/day, a lot more... Imust drink
a pint of grapefruit juice with a a half pint of vodka and ice most
every day... hey, I use a ton of ice, does that count as part of what
one consumes? Anyone tells me they never have any junk foods is
lying... never even a soda or a beer, get outta here! I have a
penchant for quality cold cuts, they are expensive, but all are very
unhealthful, cold cuts are worse than typical junk foods (cured ham is
poison, literally), I don't eat them too often but I do occasionally
indulge, perhaps once a week I'll pig out on good Genoa or
sopressata. Like I say, a person can eat a pretty healthful diet on
$7/day, but it'd be boring. I make a big pot of fresh coffee every
morning from fresh ground beans, coffee ain't cheap, don't need it to
live, but I'm worth it... I know that pot uses $2 in beans, so even
before the day starts I've spent $2, that's $14 a week right there, a
whole days groceries for you two, and I drink my coffee black no
sugar, so there is no extra expense... a lot cheaper than starbucks
(actually I've never tasted starbucks, never been, never intend to.. I
rarely drink any coffee out). My $15/day food bill is not
representitive of any extravagance, I mostly eat cheaper beef cuts
(chuck and round), chicken, and pork ... I rarely buy beef rib and
other expensive steaks, rarely veal, never lamb (baaaad), and hardly
ever have fresh fish at home (but I do love smoked fish and do treat
myself). And most every meal I eat is cooked from scratch and I
prepare a lot so I'll have left overs, and I don't mind eating the
same thing the next day (tonight is the third night in a row I'll have
sauted chicken with mashed spuds)... it's far more economical to
freeze the finished product than the individual raw ingredients, much
less waste too... stews and soups don't get freezer burn. It's
actually pretty dumb to freeze large quantities of fresh meats, folks
who do that save nothing. If there's a sale on nice pot roasts buy
two and make it all, potted meat freezes very well, takes much less
freezer space and there's no freezer burn when covered with some of
the cooking liquid.. you save the cooking time and energy and have a
ready to eat meal in your freezer instead of a DIYkit of raw parts,
many of which you may never get to before they spoil... I've never yet
had to toss out frozen prepared foods... even canning is dumb when
nowadays it's so much easier (and better) to freeze... and canning is
always iffy, freezing is never iffy. Canning is a hold over from the
days when folks had no freezer at all, I remember having no fridge,
just an ice-a box. Home canning is just a hobby nowadays, nothing
wrong with it but it definitely is a hobby... it costs less to buy
frozen veggies from the market than to can your own.
