As we have seen in other links in this thread, the orange roughy is
described as being in trouble (on this page, the language is "in
jeopardy"), but is not assigned to the category "endangered species". I
can only reason that this is because it is, in fact, not yet designated
so.
Again, I'm not promoting the taking of orange roughy, and I'm not
disputing that it may be in some degree of trouble. I'm only trying to
keep perspective on all of the sites that warn about it versus the lack of
any authoritative organizations that I've seen that formally label it as
one of the world's true "endangered species".
