I was showing my mother how you can listen to a sample of music on a CD
at Barnes & Noble. I showed her how you put the earphones on and put
the barcode of the CD under the scanner. She asked how it worked. I
explained how the machinka looks through the plastic wrap and plastic
case and reads the data on the disc inside. She doubted me. I
insisted. Why don't you use the same technology to read the print in a
book you can't open?

Thank you, Lia. What I had hoped for, was for someone to tell me what
kind of book it is. I used my supposed inability to remove the plastic
cover as an excuse not to open the book.

Usually several rfc posters are familiar with such a book and someone
may still post something helpful. Where, oh where is my Knight In
Shining Armor? :o)

he's trapped in shrink-wrap to preserve freshness.
