Probably can't sell it, but with some effort they could probably lease
it at an attractive rate to offset some of the mortgage cost.

We discussed that too when we had a house we had a hard time selling.
The costs of repainting and cleaning up after renters trashed the
place outweighed any benefits.

If you can't make the mortgage payments and can't sell, dealing with
renters is generally better than foreclosure.

LOL.. True. We had already got the new place. It was paid for. It
was better for us to lower the price to get rid of the old place.
Using our savings to get the new place made things a bit tight, but we
managed.

There are professional
rental management companies that can be well worth their fees.

Thankfully that was never an issue.

Of course
the people noted could also sell their yupmobiles and get more
economical vehicles.

Neither of us are car people. If I had my choice I wouldn't own one.
Our cars are older and paid for. We only have to carry liability
insurance. One of our kids is 22 and bought a 2006 Mustang. The
freekin insurance is almost as much as the car payment. We couldn't
talk any sense into the child. <sigh>

Yep, vehicles do depend on the exact situation. If the noted people with
the BMW and Escalade have them fully paid for and are both old enough to
not have abusive insurance rates, there may well be little benefit to
trading down.
