So, what does a systems analyst do?I was a programmer, and wanted to be a systems analyst. Well, they just
made us analyst/programmers. Same work, different title.
where i worked (arlington county, va), they wanted all the analysts to
have degrees in the subject. that sort of let out musicians and
liberal arts people who just kind of fell into making an honest
living.
my title was programmer/analyst too, but i always referred to myself
as a programmer. no sense puttin' on the dog.
Well, I'm sure you've noticed that computer use has changed. The jobs
have also. There's a funny book somewhere. The head guy at IBM said
that he saw a market for five computers, for the whole world. The head
guy at DEC said that there would never be computers in homes.
It used to be that the system analyst designed the system. The
programmer then wrote the code to implement it. Now the computers do
the work.
