I finally got a decent ISP connection. DSL at 1.5M/s. But, it comes with
few extras, email being the only one. So, I need a recommendation for a
good usenet (newsgroups) provider. I know it will cost extra, but that's
ok. I'll tolerate $5mo. Any suggestions?
BTW, I love that my ISP is MSN and I'm running Linux on it! ;) (no, this
post is from my soon to be ex-ISP)

If you don't have to have binaries go with the German server. It's only 13
bucks a year. It's news.individual.net

I agree ;) The German usenet server is nice. I've used it for years,
although I wasn't as happy when it went to a fee-based usenet provider.
The yearly rate of approximately $13 is very reasonable, though. One
nice thing about individual.net - if it's not binary, then they'll be
happy to subscribe to nearly any newsgroup when requested if it's not
already listed.
When there was discussion here about recommended free usenet servers,
here's one that was listed -- nntp.aioe.org -- however I've noticed its
retention of posts is not long.
