Is the "Flair Up" still painful or have you passed that point.
If you are no longer in pain ( an active crystal in a joint) then with
your doctors advice you should be ale to return tio your normal diet,
(OK maybe modified slightly)
For me as long as I drink plenty of water or & dehydrating fluids, I'm
OK.

Dimitri,
Yeah, it's still a bugger and I hobble around some. It switched big toes
recently, dammit!
I did call Doc for allopurinol but I've got to be clear of the symtoms
before using it, as he said, the allopurinol could further aggrevate
matters.
If I drank any more water I could be a fish! :)
figure out what triggers your gout! With gout, it's different
triggers for different people. Your continuing gout tells you you're
still eating a trigger food. You may find that your favorites don't
bother you (in the long run).
My BIL had to give up alcohol, but he can still have glass or two of
wine (in moderation). He can also eat shrimp with no problem - as
long as he doesn't pig out.
Hubby can eat red meat, but he's still trying (too scared of the pain
at this point) to figure out which seafood triggers his gout. If I
order shrimp or scallops, he can eat one or two with no ill effect....
but he's afraid a whole meal because it might flare up and it probably
will. He's a water drinker, so alcohol is a not a problem.... however
he went though a time where he thought orange juice was a factor.
Just to be sure, he cut OJ way back and substituted apple juice. So,
for him... (so far) it's shellfish and OJ. Not sure what will pan out
if he ever decides to do the acid test though.
Good luck, gout is *not* anything to laugh about.
