Not sure. The one's I tried were not earthy. They were pretty
nondescript and tasted mostly like the garlic butter they were in,
much the same way the worm is mescal tastes mostly like ...mescal.
Okay, hubby and I have always wanted to travel to Africa. When we go, I'll
try your escargot. :~)
Or visit California. Turns out the common garden snail that is a
rampant plague in CA is an alien import from France. IOW, we can't
get rid of potential escargot to save our lives. They are so
pervasive they cause accidents.
I recall once seeing the outline, in snail, of a bicycle crash. It
was on a wide corner sidewalk next to a huge ivy bed. You could see
hundreds of dried slime trails and at the apex of the turn the trail
of bicycle tires, the slide marks, the crash point and ensuing
multiple rolling contact points, all in dead snail guts and slime. I
wish I'd had a camera. So much food on the hoof, wasted! ;)
