Re: induction or gas stove?

Hi,
I'm fairly new to this discussion group and I do own a induction cook
top. Please forgive me if I have jumped in without the knowledge of
the collective thought.

I'm a little confused about the discussion. if I understand correctly,
the debate is about induction and/or electricity not making sense?
(aside that the source of power being the same); or Gas being better
than electricity and the cost of pots & pans. I think most of us have
been camping, and enjoyed the atmosphere of eating amongst freinds in
the frest air. So eating isn't the issue. I think it's about the
enjoyment of cooking.

The benefits of 'open-flame'? Hmmm, really? aside of being able to
roast the skin off a pepper, or thinking your at your favourite a camp
fire, the benefit are few.
I must admit, seeing the open-flame is nice because you know it's on!
Theirs a confidents therer. Although, I think the risk of burning a
towel left unattended or a grease fire and the risk of falling asleep
while the stoves is on, are more important issues. Not like I'm old
or anything like that :-) None-the-less these issues don't exist with
induction.

Just my two-cents....

Combininginductionand gas would
make some sense, as there are some real benefits to the open flame, but
inductionand conventional electric makes no sense at all, unless you
have mountains of non-magnetic cookware you are compelled to keep using.

Where I live there isn't a house without electrical service availible. But
there are houses without Gas service.

Population of my city...3/4 or so million (last time I checked).

I'm positive those not on the natural gas grid can easily have
propane.
