Scotch and soda is a classic drink, one of my favorites. I also like

Clinking glasses across the Pacific!
I come from a family of whisky drinkers (moderately I trust).
I drink my Scotch with ice and a splash of iced water or soda. I never
trust a barman to put in the water because they don't stop at a
splash! Sometimes I just have a nip over ice.
I do occasionally have an Irish Bushmills or an American bourbon (that
nice Labrott & Graham) over ice. Maybe with the bourbon I should
forget the soda - you could be right on this. Its quite a different
drink to Scotch.
Coke with whiskies, is a travesty not be wasted with my precious
whisky supplies!
But, I have never drunk coke or colas <g>.
