You misunderstand. I didn't say it here, I said it out loud in real life.
(laugh) But it took me aback when you said what I've been noticing.

On re-reading your post, I see the error in my ways! ;-) I just know I miss a lot of the threads around here.

I just checked the online store of both my regular supermarket (Safeway) and that of the other major chain in the area (Giant), using my zipcode. Both still have plenty of choices of powdered laundry detergent. So I guess it's probably just my regular supermarket rather than the chain dropping it or any regulation. I presume if there was some rule (such as phosphate level), they wouldn't list it for sale for my zipcode.

It's a vanishing breed, I think. Not the end of the world or anything.

Definitely not the end of the world. It's not like it makes a big difference whether I use liquid or powder, it's just something I got used to. I had used mostly liquid a decade ago and for some reason switched to powder. But for the dishwasher, I did have a legitimate reason for not wanting to use liquid, since it separated on me.
