Yep it is a brand new high end machine coming with Twin PCIe graphics cards and 3 Gb RAM and fast DualCore and Vista Ultimate on board.

I am in New Zealand. The ISP's all advertise Maximum Upload and Maximum download speeds for Broadband but of course that depends who is on the Telephone Exchange Card with you as far as Broadband connections and bandwidth they are taking. Right now my Modem/router (access your modem set-up page to see this) shows 5088 kbps download speed and 864 kbps upload. This is the theoretical maximum speed I can get downloads at. Three WinXP machines show approx 3200 kbps download speeds and the Vista machine shows 4400 kbps through the same modem. 719 kbps for all on Upload.

It will not work so well for you being in another country, but you can see speed tests here

Well, your new computers is infinitely more powerful than my new one! ;-) It all depends on what you intend to use it for as to what makes sense. I have a neighbor that had to get the latest and greatest, but he doesn't run video games or anything needing powerful graphics, basically does web browsing and email. And he still uses dialup and refuses to consider DSL or cable. So what's the point?

I tried the speed test to that site you mentioned. I get 2118, 1928, 1837 kbps down (3 test runs), and 659, 426, 337 kbps up, which I guess is respectable considering the distance, etc. I'm in Washington, DC.

I guess a lot also depends on your distance from the phone company central office and condition of the wires. The central office is about 3 city blocks from my house (I could see it out my window except a taller building is in the way). My service is definitely 3.0 mb down, but I haven't checked it recently in the modem itself. Not so easy to look at it with a separate router in between.
