I saved $100 on my TV as compared to Best Buy. A computer monitor was $10

Are you sure they were exactly the same model (hehe), and the same
quality? LOL I bet they were.

Best buy has bargains on some items and on some items they charge more
than other stores... you need to be a good shopper. Before I by
something like a TV I check prices on line... often there's great price
disparity at different stores on exactly the same items.

Like this week my local small stupidmarket has 2 liter bottles of all
Coca Cola products for 89¢... next week Pepsi products will be 89¢
and Coke will be back up to $1.49. I don't much care which brand I
drink nor do I drink so much soda that it pays for me to travel 20
miles to where there are more stores to choose from and it may be even
10¢ less. And no way anyone is going to convince me that when Coke
and Pepsi go on sale it's because they lessened the quality. What the
imbeciles don't realize is that with mass produced products the major
cost is in packaging, advertizing, transportation, warehousing, etc...
very little cost is in the product itself... fluffing up paper... only
a true ***** whould say that! hehe

I try to purchase all the heavy items from the local store (why schlep
soda so far, and/or have is smush my more delicate items), and since I
save the 5¢ deposit bottles I may as will bring those the short
distance into town too. I also find I do a better job of sticking to
my list when I shop locally... when I drive all the way to the big city
stores, like everyone else stuff I never planned on reaches out to me,
and then I will buy stuff I have no real need for... the psychology
works, make people travel a longer distance and they will by more
simply because they are already there and expended the effort to get
there. That's why I stopped shopping indoor malls, I always ended up
settling on a different style, size, color because rarely did they have
exactly what I wanted. I buy all my clothes (including shoes) on line
and never have to settle.... just try to get a particular brand sneaker
at the mall in the style/color you want and in a 5E, I can get all I
want on line and never leave the comfort of home and waste an entire
day traipsing to hell and back at some fercocktah mall... most times
you can't even get a parking spot without walking a few thousand yards,
and then try to find your car hours later because by that time you
forgot you parked near lampost 17B. The only benefit I ever found to
malls is that during warm weather the teenaged girls stroll about
braless and practically nude.

I left your rant about travelling to distant outposts to save a few cents to
actually put down somethine 'useful' if you go to Walmart. Their corporate
policy is to match prices. If you have a flyer from the local supermarket
for, say Pepsi, at .89 for two liters and the Wallyworld has it for $1.25,
show the cashier to ad from wherever and they have to match the price. The
only restriction is from stores where you need a 'club card' to get the
discount or if it is a BOGO. If the ad says sale price and doesn't require
a card, Wallyworld has to give it to you at the sale price. If the cashier
gives you a look like it cannot be done, ask her to get the customer service
manager, the overide code is "2".....(hey, I once was one of those CSM
people - and all their registers are the same throughout the US and use the
same codes) and they do take coupons.....I once bought Maxwell House coffee
there, when theirs was $4.98 a lb. can, with a supermarket ad that said
2/$3.00, I had two $1 off a can coupons, so I ended up paying $1 for two
cans of coffee.....got to know how to work their system. I was asked
didn't I feel like I was taking advantage of the store, and I pointed out
the listing of 'bonus' checks awarded to their higher ups and told the
inquiree, not at all.
