I have is only mediocre.
I think only a very simple topping is needed, since the apples are already
spiced and the filling contains both nuts and craisins.
This is an easy one that I use and like...
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats (old-fashioned oats, not quick oats)
1/2 cup raw sugar
6 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
Combine flour, oats, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add butter cut in
chunks, and blend into dry mixture using a pastry blender until mixture is
crumbly. Scatter evenly over apple mixture. Bake 35-40 minutes at 350
degrees F.
