Last night's dinner

We had fun at the produce section last night. We got a handful each of
some fun stuff -- fresh shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, french
green beans, yellow squash, cilantro, lemongrass, spring onions...

I sauteed some julienned ginger, several cloves of sliced garlic,
lemongrass, and the tops of the onions in a little oil, then added
some carrots, the green beans, and the squash. When they had started
to soften, I added some shrimp stock I'd made from the heads and
shells of a pound of shrimp. Threw in some commercial satay-style
soup stock mix, then the shrimp, and last, the cilantro and the tops
of the onions.

Meanwhile, I cooked some rice vermicelli. After I'd rinsed the
vermicelli, I divided it into our bowls, and then poured the soup on
top.

It was lovely. Well, James and I thought so, anyway. Carin didn't care
for it. She did like dessert, though -- green-tea mochi and fresh
lychees.
