Yet apparently some feel doctors who do these marvels earn too much.
Well, they also accept risk to their livelhood each time they touch a
patient (for fee or free) when they can be sued for an outcome less than
ideal, and yet they did NOTHING wrong. I truly do not think most doctors
are "greedy" and I know for a fact that most don't earn those Beverly
Hills salaries you see on TV.

We actually have a family friend where this exact situation happened.

The who woman sued him had been "shopping" for a doctor to snag & it
couldn't be proven in court. He was a small town doctor & didn't have
malpractice insurance. (I'm sure he didn't charge his patients much
either & kept "accounts" for the locals) The whole town rallied around
to pay the settlement afterward, but since he had to then pay
malpractice to continue his practice (that he wasn't able to afford) he
had to take a job in a Indian Reservation way up north. Still owns his
house in town, as it's a historical house & his grand or
great-grandfather built it. The town is even named after the family.

Totally screwed up situation because of a greedy person, not a doctor.
This is very typical of the wonderful USA. Sue, sue, sue.

My son was in boy scouts with a couple of boys whose family lived on
lawsuits. You used to worry about them coming down your street, as mom and
dad and at least one of the two boys had a cast, splint or brace on
somewhere.......they could find a pubic hair on the sidewalk to trip over
and sue. I don't think either parent held a 'real' job, but I do know they
bragged about this settlement or that settlement.

People like that make it hard for people legitimately in need to be taken
seriously.
