It's Minnesota. You *MUST* have access to National Public Radio. I think
it's the law out there.

It should be. I wish it had a stronger signal. I live only 15 miles from the
border and about 30 miles from a US city with a NRP station. I used to listen
to it a lot in the car when I was at work, but I am on the fringe for
reception at home. They have some pretty good programming. It is not as good
as CBC in some ways, but better in others. At least when they are doing an
interview with a moderately interesting person who has escaped fame and
fortune because no one really cares that much about some woman who live son
her own up north and knits her own sweaters with her dog's hair that it is
worthy of a 5-10 minute segment and not 2 hours. But they make up for that
when they spend an hour or two on some municipal political issue in a city or
town hundreds of miles away.

I was listening to NPR one night when they were interviewing some old lady
from Appalachia and she was telling how to make her famous pie dough. The
way she explained it was that you had to take some flour and add some salt
depending on the amount of flour. Then you cut in the right amount of
shortening, which depended up the the of shortening, and then the right
amount of water. She wouldn't give measurements because it depended on how
big a pie or how many pies. and a person should be able to figure it out to
get the right texture.
