If I am there with my child, acknowledge her. Don't look at me and ask
what she'd like. She has a voice and has been ordering her own food since
she was 3. At 11, she is more than capable of telling you what she'd like.
Act like you want to be there, not like we are annoying or bothering you
by our mere presence. If you don't want to be there, then get another job!
Don't take a job that doesn't pay you the way you think you deserve, and
then whine to your customers about it. Don't assume it's my problem. It
isn't.

This reminds me of something that happened years ago. By coincidence, we
were seated at a table close to a table with some friends of ours. I heard
their son (probably about 12 years old at the time) say, "I believe I'll
have the lobster." In a very dry voice, his father said, "I believe he'll
have the hamburger." We got a good chuckle out of the whole proceeding.
