Yeah, I've done that prying thing, too, usually with plastic or stainless.
Doing with glass is risky. But sheldon was right about the hot/cold. The
bottom pan needs to expand, while the top pan needs to contract.
If they both are oven safe, you might try filling the top dish with lots
of ice/ice water, put them in a cold oven on say 100 or something low and
let them heat slowly. The bottom dish might expand while the top dish
remains cooler. Since heat rises, maybe turn them upside down(puting the
ice/water in a zip bag and putting it on a cookie ***) and maybe
the weight of the top dish might help it come out.
Or maybe heat the bottom dish with canned heat?
