And braindead Jim rants, raves and carries on... To the wrong person. I mean, he doesn't know to whom he's replying. The words quoted below are all mine, not Limey's or Ivor's. Just mine. So all the quotes below that Jim is aiming his demented frenzy at are mine. And he doesn't seem to know that. And he grows more fevered each time he posts...
These replies from him are so incredibly stupid and evasive/diversionary that they feel like parodies of him. Like taking his normally over-the-top shrieking and raving and somehow multiplying them into these impossibly self-centered justifications for all of it. Is this really JimLane or could it be a much smarter parodist, taking JimLane's craziness and making it into a bit of online performance art?
I'll assume it's the one and only JimLane himself. If it's not, then we've both had fun with it. If it is, only I am having fun.
JimLane is too ridiculous to believe. This is his idea of how one would "Cite it, please." This is his idea of what "Google me up that discussion" means to him. Note that I said to "tell me about it" and then changed the request because of previous experience with his lame ways - said to "Cite it, please." Poor JimLane says he sent copies of my note to others but can't seem to find it to send here - with URL from Google.
All I did was pull down all the 22 messages and put them into one message for Bob (not Pastorio, so don't get too confused, although I should have made that clearer, so BobC) to edit down. Where have you been ivor, sleeping again?
Hey, fuckwit. I said that, not Ivor. Can't even keep that kind of simple stuff clear? Beyond not knowing how to post, you don't know how to read posts, either. And Limey isn't Ivor.
What 22 messages? And why can't you find them on Google?
FYI , my ISP was having usenet server problems and my message base kept geting messed up. Barely got that straightened out and they changed USENET providers and all my pointers were back at zero and I had to dl about 475,000 messages for the ngs I monitor. Some 230,000 were in this one ng.
There was still a fly in the ointment and that was the ISP hadn't finished setting up and my pointers kept resetting to zero, again and again. I dl'd that message base three times before deciding to change readers.Thunderbird is really good, but they do not give you an option for dl by date or X number of most current messages. I ended up switching to MR/2 ICE which allowed me to do that, but it will not thread. I have been paring down that massive database to something manageable. This one is down to 1200+ right now. I have one 70,000 message base to work on plus a couple in the 40,000 range in this newsreader alone.
Round and round for a few more days until I get this sorted out.
Yadda, yadda, yadda...
Google it, airwit, and provide the URL. Forget all that crap about databases and ISPs and ointment on your fly. Just pop it up here and quit fimbling around.
Put it up or shut it up.
Beyond that stupidity, I had to copy and paste the rant below because he doesn't know how to post yet, after all these years. When I hit reply, it didn't show. Above I asked for a citation - which he obviously doesn't understand - not his garbled quotation of someone else's summary of a post. If it actually ever happened. I doubt it.
I do know how to do it, ivor, see above for why it hasn't been done yet and take a deep breath and a couple fo aspirin.
Hey, idiot. You're quoting me, not Ivor. And doesn't this just prove what a lamer you really are? You don't even understand what you're replying to. It was about correctly posting your note about all this gun foolishness so it would show when "reply" was clicked. And, number two, the URL from Google. Your smokescreen prattle deals with neither issue.
So, JimLane, here's how the grownups do it. They go to Google, find the post and send along a URL so it can be looked at in its entirety, not just what you feel like writing. So the groups to which it was posted can be seen. So the entire conversation can be seen. So the whole story can be told, not your demented self-aggrandizing telling. Not your expert language analysts with firearms.
You opinion means squat, ivor. What do you call your and bobbie's postings? Self-aggrandizing, ivor, self-aggrandizing.
Hey, JimLane, it was about posting the URL from Google. What's so hard about that? Just put the details into the search and Google will diligently search for it and dump it out for all to see. Or is it simply that:
1) you don't know how to do it.
2) you've already tried and nothing like what you're asserting comes up
3) you've discovered that it wasn't me after all
So just post the URL that shows our discussion about guns, JimLane, and everyone will see how you whipped my ass.
Oh, and it wasn't Ivor who said that to you. Seeing ghosts, are we?

Could you be more consumed with this insanity? Could your obsessions have any more control over you? Could you be be less in control of yourself? Could your rationality be more crippled?
At least I have a degree of rationality, ivor. Compared to you and bobbie, that is a lot.
Um, Ivor didn't write that. Neither did Limey. I did.
And the way you demonstrate your rationality is to be so overwhelmingly consumed with this crusade of yours as to be unable to read what's plainly on the screen in front of you? To be unable to take the simple step of providing the URL to what you're claiming? To reply to the salient points being raised and instead rant about irrelevancies? These things show your rationality?
FYI, JimLane, I have several .22 cal firearms; pistol (8-shot
revolver), survival rifle (Charter AR), Marlin semi (17 LR
tube-fed). And other weapons. I've been a member of the NRA and I
have a shooting range set up on the farm here, as I did in two
other places I've lived. This is out in the country where we
shoot as a social exercise. I've taught my kids, their spouses
and my granddaughter how to shoot (and take down, clean and reassemble their weapons). There's a 50-yard range literally
outside my back door - five steps from the door is the table -
shooting into a hillside. I shot the pistol the day before
yesterday to show a house guest what a .22 tracer bullet looks
like at night. The way I know that any given chamber has been
fired is to look at the brass and see the rim nicked. Just like
anyone else who has spent more than a few minutes shooting. Or
would you have pointed the gun at your face so you could look down the cute little holes where the ammunition lives to see
which still had those bullet thingies on top of the pretty brass
stuff at the bottom end?
I am so NOT impressed, ivor. I was raised around guns since the age of five.
Could you have missed the point any more badly? The salient point was that I'm experienced enough with firearms that I wouldn't have asked about centerfire or rimfire .22. I stated out plain how I tell if the chambers are live or dead. That zooooomed past you.
You, instead, think we're comparing *** sizes and that your agonizingly detailed arsenal will give you ascendancy. I didn't list all the guns I've handled and saw no relevance to do so. So it's still irresolute.
I have had several 22s from single shot to slide (and a target pistol in 1958 -XP2000?). My first shotgun was a 410/22 over-under. Remember those? I first shot 30-06 tracers at the age of 10 (in 1955, ivor) out of a eight-shot clip in a M-1 Girand. I also shot AP at that time. I went from the 410 through a 20 ga multi-choke to a Browing double auto skeet/trap gun. Rifles went from the 22 through the 30-06 to 7mm Mag, 220-Swift, 308, 22-270, 243 and a 17-cal. I have shot a Nitro Express - once was enough.
Your guns do not impress me nor does your shooting background. Now, I would be impressed with any competitions you have won at the state, region or national level. That IS impressive stuff. I've never done any except Rod & Gun Club stuff.
Earth calling JimLane... Focus. Focus on showing the Google URL for these claims of yours.
Post the freakin URL for this and try to act like a grownup, even if it's just more of your shallow acting.
I punched in several "quotes" from your blightedly stupid message to Google and none came up attached to my name except this post to which I'm replying. I'm beginning to think it was some other Bob you got into it with. I searched "pastorio 22 rimfire" and "JimLane Bob 223" and "bob 22 rimfire" and several combinations that should have given the post to which you have referred these several times. Lots of posts showed up - more than I wanted to go through individually, but none that I could see with me as the poster.
You don't know who you are posting to.
Bwahahahahaha...
You have made a couple fo replies to me while talking to bobbie. Check your own posting out. Further, this was not even addressed to you although you are preening like it was.
Um, JimLane, you have the names of the posters wrong. All of them. Not one is correct. And you chastise others for not knowing to whom they're posting. This is how you show your rationality?
You ignore the question - why haven't you just posted the URL? - and just go on and on with more of your lunatic perseverating.
All you have to do is post the Google URL for this supposed exchange of notes between us that shows all these sins of mine. If you can do that, I will offer an appropriate apology. But your inability to do so speaks volumes about your intelligence, your integrity and your mental state. And that it very, very likely never happened.
I say I don't recall any such exchange. You say it exists. If it does, it should be in Google. Put it up.
Remember that silly challenge stuff you tried to pull on me? Here's one for you, radio-boy. If you can't come up with proof that I engaged you in a thread about guns as you insist, you leave Usenet in any and all incarnations/identities... Show everyone what you're made of (as if you haven't already)
Pastorio .
