My old gelding (26) took to getting really skinny every late summer early
fall, five or six years back. Had his teeth checked, blood work, etc. etc.
Double wormed him (even though showing no parasites), sand blasted him
(though showing no sand), nada.
No matter what I did or fed him, he'd get skinny in the fall, and, about the
first good killing frost, he'd put it back - regardless of what I fed him.
Regardless of teeth, worms, sand.
Never did figure it out, but by now I just go with it. Something in the
pasture he shouldn't eat? Flies? Zombies chasing him around 'til
Halloween? (Actually, he started putting it back on a few weeks back). Who
knows? He doesn't seem to feel unwell, and he's really not *that* skinny -
it's just that skinny bugs a person worse when you don't know why. He's
chunking back up again nicely now (as every year since it started), and I
don't know why *that* either.
