I love all those adverts with the weight guesstimates, many of which
are pretty darn funny.
On my property, I'd say Belles is really FAT FAT FAT. Moonlight is
pleasingly plump for a late teens going into winter. Rain and Baby are
perfect. CC is perfect. Dancer is a little slim, maybe a 5 on the
scale, but glowing with health--she just puts it in the milk. CC is
great for an almost 4 month old foal, very slim but not unthrifty and
far from fat. Poor Dolly is very under weight. She has just thrown off
the pounds in the last few weeks; how the heck do they go down so
quickly? She's on the feeding program and should plump up, and if not,
we'll have the vet out soon for CC's shots and will have a check up
and consult.
Belles: 16 hands, 1375 lbs. I think her ideal is 1250 when eventing
fit.
Moonlight: 15.3, 1075 lbs. She carried about 1025 when eventing fit.
Rain: 15.2, 975 lbs. She looks great.
Baby: 15.2, 1150 lbs. She looks very good, certainly better than the
1450 she weighed when she came.
Dancer: 15.2, 1000 lbs. Glossy, dapples, bit of a belly, NO topline at
all.
CC: 12.3 up front, 13 behind, 430 lbs.
Dolly: 14.3/15, 925 lbs. She's usually about 1,000 spring and summer,
and then I feed her up to about 1025 in the late fall through the
winter. From here out I guess we will have her on concentrates
whenever she is not on pasture. She's not quidding her hay, teeth are
good, and she is getting roughage pretty much free choice.

My 9yo TB, Cash, is approximately 1100lbs and 16-1/2 hands. Cash is very easy to keep weight on w/beet pulp in his diet. He is ridden 5 days a week, dressage, 3 times by me in walk/trot and twice by a friend who actually works him. My dressage trainer hops on him for about 15 minutes once a week. He's only worked for about 30 minutes each time.
Rebel, my daughter's 5yo Paint, averages 1050lbs and is 15.3 hands. He is ridden 5-6 days a week, dressage 1st level. He's worked for 45-60 minutes each ride.
Rebel & Cash eat the same foods in the same quantities: 1.5 quarts (dry measurement) beet pulp + 1.5 quarts (3.5 lbs) high fat complete feed. The each get 1 cup of Omega Horseshine, which is ground flax, and daily womrer. Additionally, Rebel gets 1 lb of Ultra Bloom rice bran each day to give him energy & help him maintain/build muscle. All horses at my barn get 2-4 flakes of Timothy/Alfalfa as well.
Of my boarded horses:
(3) ponies ranging from 500-800 pounds and aged from 8-16
(1) QH weighing 1150-ish, aged 17
(1) TB weighing 1100-ish, aged 16
(1) Hanoverian weighing 1200, aged 17
(1) Trakhener weighing 1000, aged 9
(2) Lg Ponies of unknown heritage weighing 900 (aged 26) and 950 (aged 8)
(1) QH mix weighing 980, aged 12
(1) Appendix weighing 1250, aged 11
(1) Danish WB weighing 1280, aged 8
All are fed T&A, premium complete horse feeds w/beet pulp bases, and daily wormer.
