Oh... My... Gawd!!!  PIGS!!!!  My horses are a bunch of PIGS!

They went out today, no sheets (as usual); sauntered down to the
arena; rolled; then, apparently, they sauntered over to other dirt
areas and rolled!!!  It's just damp enough that the dirt and mud,
sticks like glue!

Gawd!  We brushed all of them again, last night!  Today, they're
filthy!  To look at them this afternoon, one would think that we NEVER
brush our horses.

That's it!  It's rain sheet time!  I have a bunch of 'mud-brownish-
gray' horses.
The beasts!  So, I guess this year, I'll try something new... rain
sheets to prevent rain rot.

Just venting... they're such pigs!  {sigh}

boys.']

<snort> <giggle> You have my sympathies.

Choc once was out; had his usual roll and carefully coated his body
with dirt. Then it started to rain. By the time he came in, he was
coated with *slime*  Yech!

Blanket and sheet season is a blessing. Although, when he was
still very young, he used to carefully remove his sheet and then
go roll in the mud.

Cruiser seldom rolls. It is one of his virtues. Then again, he jumps
out and he ruined his lovely halter (hah!) he came with from
Ireland playing nippy face with his friends.

Horses!

Sox is not a big roller but I have a 5 year old mutt that isn't
entirely happy unless she's laid in the nearest mud puddle. When she
is a muddy dog she's a happy dog! It means she's had a good free run
at the barn and to compound things she loves to eat horse poop so not
only is she happily muddy but she has poop breath!, LOL.

While I love a clean gleaming animal I'm convinced they are never
entirely happy while clean.

A muddy horse has enjoyed a good personal scratch.

Their dirt may be the bane of our existence but if they didn't enjoy
it we'd all have spotless horses. I think I'd rather a happy, dirty
horse than a stalled spotless one.

Mind you, no one would ever buy my car second hand as it's seat's are
covered in pet hair and mud and the barn kids HATE having puppy poop
breath in their faces when I drive them but I opted to own animals and
you can't have happy pets (or kids for that matter!) and a perfect car
or home.

A friend once told me her husband freaked at coming home to their kids
dirty finger prints on their french doors. She told me she treasured
every finger print cause it meant her kids were healthy and happy and
active.

Makes sense to me.
