A polite way of saying, inbreeding?

I got the pedigrees of our new filly, and upon entering them I see that
she
has some common ancestors on both Mom and Pop's side. It starts with
some
common ancestry between great grandparents on Dads side and great great
grandparents on the dam side and gets more common from there. Is this
pretty typical in the horse world, or should I worry? Anything
particular I
should check her for?

First of all, I just realized how little I know about Appy bloodlines.
<grin>

I knew nothing... have been studying a little and know enough to know she's
got a couple of good ones. And both TB/QH of note in there-- she's not
foundation, more like an Appendaloosa, though god help us if that becomes a
"breed". LOL.

Next, nothing remarkable here. We are talking a 5 gen cross. Hmmph,
check out Holsteiners and you will find crosses to Cor de le Bryere
that close and farther up. And they are a registry, not a breed.

That seems to be the consensus and I'm much relieved.

I don't think it is anything to worry about. She is a nice type; she,
from what you have said, comes from a background of good performing
types. I think she is going to grow up to be a nice horse. Even I,
the plain bay lover, could deal with some "bling" on a package
this nice.

Thanks! She really seems sane, and smart. She picked up lunging quickly
and she lets you handle her all over. When she was very small she put up
more fuss and fight than any of her siblings to become "halter broke" and
the former owner was worried that she was going to be a spooky nightmare,
but since then she has gotten right into the routine and her former owner
can't believe how sane and solid and calm, she has become. She's growing
into herself nicely.

I loved her trot and the little canter that she did on the lunge, she is
very floaty.

She also does have Impressive on her Dad's side but he is HYPP N/N.

Then the Impressive does not matter.

She's a nice filly; I think she will be something special down the road.
Just a hunch.

Thanks, Sue. We're looking forward to seeing her grow up.
