I'm off to Agway soon to get some soil.

Don't forget the peat. Mix 1-1 with the soil.

I was sure to get three varieties of blueberry bushes as they say it'll help with the yield. <fingers crossed>

What we did here was to plant several varieties of early, main season,
and late blueberries.

Can I just top dress the soil with compost and leaves after the initial planting or do I need to be more aggressive somehow. Hmm... we have no trees here really which means no leaves in the fall. I'll have to find an oak leaf source.

We used oak leaves because they were convenient, and again, free. You
can mulch with whatever you have but make sure you acidify. The pH
should be about 5.0-5.3. Top mulching should be fine if your initial
hole is fairly large and well filled. You might want to test the pH
once or twice a year.

Have you ever gone blueberry picking up on the Gunks? Sam's Point is our favorite local hike. Oceans and oceans of blueberries!

I'll check the link out at home but we only ever go picking at my
parent's. :) It's closer and its free. Better yet, most often, mom's
caretakers pick during the day and give us containers when we come to
visit. :) :) :)

PS No peepers yet. I start listening in March but the earliest I've
heard them so far is March 11. Outside of Sat. & Sun., temps are
supposed to be normal so I expect I'll start hearing them in a week or
two.
