No argument. But no amount of correct feel and connection will overcome a
poor eye.
So don't use your 'eye'.
Use feel.
Get it consistent and reliable, then make some guesses,
then measure.
I'm just saying if my husband and I can disagree on dimensions of various
portions of our property (in the relevant size range we are discussing
here), we can't both be right. I think you might over estimate the number
of folks who can accurately eyeball distances on this scale.

I'm suggesting that one not 'eyeball' the distances,
but feel the degree of positional influence required
to produce certain arcs.
If you can't do it any other way, have someone lunge
an experienced horse as you ride various consistent
radii from feel, and then let the verbal feedback give
you the map for the sizes.
